Well Wag’s foundation began in our universal love for pets, and the design idea that blossomed through it aimed to ease the mind’s of pet parents when they could not be with their furry family members. The most common theme for pet parents is the peace in knowing that their pet will be taken care of when they are away. The innovation of Well Wag is to bridge that gap & do exactly that.

The Problem
Pet owners often have to juggle their daily lives within time constraints that keep them away from their furry friends for prolonged periods time. Because of this, many pet owners find themselves stressed when away, unable to put their mind to rest. Many pet owners worry about the well being of their pet while being away.
Survey
To begin setting the basic framework for our target users, we conducted a 9-question survey, asking fundamental questions pertaining to health monitoring and potential app features.
The survey received staggering feedback, including 48 responses varying from all pet parent demographics.
The main take aways we found most useful were that majority of responders would use the app to ensure their pet’s safety, and a collar would be most ideal in tracking any app information.
Insights
Moving forward from the survey, we then interviewed six pet owners to gain a better idea of what they most commonly struggle with in pain points, lifestyle and health preferences for their pets, separation behaviors and general tracking information.
We were also able to get a better idea of what features would be most helpful to include when moving forward.
Feature Prioritization
Once we group and organized our data from our interviews, we sorted this into a feature prioritization model in order to better assess what would not only be feasible, but most important in our app’s development.
Doing this showed us what would be most beneficial to put our focus towards, thus leading us to include features centered around heart rate, GPS tracking and activity monitoring.
Design Process
User Persona
Once a generalized understanding of potential users was formed, we were able to create what we saw to be our most likely user through a user persona. This put our perception of what our target audience might entail into something more tangible, further allowing us to relate more in depth to what our user experience would be like.
Storyboard
To bring our user persona to life even more, we had our storyboard act as a living narrative through the eyes of our potential target user. Following along with her experience put a sense of reality behind our ideas, and it gave a new meaning and sense of importance to our app’s creation.
Sketches
Our initial sketches focused primarily on basic design ideas and how our user flow could be directed throughout the app. The purpose of these were to simplify our idea process, while still gaining momentum into where this design was headed next.
End Result
Wireframes
Our wireframe templates followed in a similar manner- keeping the basic structure simple, with room to build upon design preferences and specifics later.
High Fidelity
Our final design frames focused on detailing our user experience into something both playful and informative.
We eventually included unique design modifications, such as paw breadcrumbs as moving through the app, a pop-out paw menu and an informative moving tutorial found in one of the menu panels.
