Encouraging small business owners to expand their horizons.
Background
Beginning Stages
The Peaceful Palm is a mobile massage therapy business ran by Kai & Cherokee who are looking to revamp their current website. They were looking for expanded expression within their content & hoping for higher traffic volume. Client Kick Off
The Peaceful Palm is a mobile massage therapy business ran by Kai & Cherokee who are looking to revamp their current website. They are looking for expanded expression within their content & hoping for higher traffic volume. Our team worked with them to bring together an updated styled website that is both easier to navigate & showcases their passion for helping other’s heal.
Survey
One of the first methods of gaining data was collected through user surveys- the results giving a better scope of the target user’s massage preferences & frequency. Other user personality traits were also further understood, such as colors associated with relaxation & peacefulness.
Insights
Apart from survey responses, we also conducted 7 user interviews ranging between the ages 24-44.
These interviews further touched upon our previous insights, with our responses showing us common trends, high lighting pain points & providing a deeper glimpse into realities of the Peaceful Palm’s potential clients.
As shown in this affinity diagram, several common themes included lack of trustworthiness & sense of safety. Part of our team’s design work soon directed focus on showcasing The Peaceful Palm’s professional, compassionate services in a way that would be both appealing & relieving to users.
Design Process
User Persona
Gaining a deeper understanding of our users through collected data points allowed us to then create a user persona.
We allowed this persona to represent what we felt our most common target audience might feel, think & perceive when seeking services through the The Peaceful Palm.
This persona further gave a deeper understanding as to how a user might navigate this process, glimpsing inside a potential emotional state of the user, giving a better direction as to how we can enhance their experience.
Moodboard
I then pieced together various photographs, styles & colors to create a mood board that would showcase The Peaceful Palm’s overarching aesthetic.
In this moodboard, the overall expression was aiming to be zen, medicinal, while still feeling very progressive.
Sketches
From here, we began to brainstorm new template ideas & a structure to build upon.
We wanted to reorganize the information architecture, while still presenting a clean, thorough explanation of each service.
End Result
Wireframes
After getting an initial blueprint of the idea we envisioned for the new Peaceful Palm platform, we began to create simple, easy to follow wireframes. This allowed for quick banter of ideas & directions while giving the project the flexibility & space for improvement along the way.
In these wireframes, we also included a potential hamburger redesign towards a pop-out menu.
High Fidelity
In our final design iterations, we were able to blend both our client’s vision with practical, efficient design choices. Peaceful Palm design became captivating, with an easier navigation approach, including new additions such as customizable massage packages & easy-to-use calendar scheduling.
